Ash is Pete’s temporary beta voice. Microphone never starts until you grant permission.
Talk naturally with Pete and hear him speak. Mic permission is still required.
When enabled, saying “Hey Pete” starts a voice conversation. After you accept this once, Waypoint will not ask again.
Android can keep a visible microphone service after you opt in. iOS cannot always-listen in the background for this app class — strongest support is foreground wake plus an active session.
Where the OS allows it, bring Pete on screen. Never bypasses device lock.
Speaker is the loudspeaker, not the earpiece. Connected AirPods or headphones are respected.
Z Fold on a desk: local Hey Pete stays available. Realtime Ash connects only after wake, then shuts down when Pete sleeps.
Keep-awake is dim, never full brightness, and only while Desk Mode is on.
Pete returns to sleep after true inactivity. “Okay Pete, that’s all” ends immediately.
